Window & door sealing
Under insulated framework around windows and doors can greatly contribute to a home’s energy loss and overall comfort. At Exotherm, we use Great Stuff pro series window and door insulating sealant by DOW to stop the infiltration of air and moisture, which in turn maximizes energy efficiency. This gun-applied, low-pressure-build formulation, which expands to take the shape of gaps, creates a durable, airtight, and water-resistant seal between a window or door frame and its rough opening.
When properly installed, it is proven not to bow or distort the frame, becomes tack free within 3-10 minutes, and if need be, is trimmable within 60 minutes of being applied. It bonds to vinyl, metal, wood, and composite surfaces, cures in 8 hours, and meets the stringent durability requirements as an air leakage sealant set out in CAN/ULC S710.1, CAN/ULC S711.1, and CCMC 13074-L.
Benefits of closed-cell or 2lb foam insulation
- Superior insulation performance: Closed-cell foam insulation has a high R-value, which means that it provides excellent thermal insulation and helps to reduce energy consumption.
- Moisture resistance: Closed-cell foam insulation is impermeable to moisture, which makes it an ideal choice for areas that are prone to high humidity or water exposure. This can help to prevent mold growth and water damage.
- High durability: Closed-cell foam insulation is highly resistant to damage from impacts, vibrations, and settling, which makes it a durable and long-lasting insulation material.
- Air sealing properties: Closed-cell foam insulation creates an air barrier that can help to prevent air leaks and drafts, which can improve indoor air quality and reduce energy loss.
- Versatility: Closed-cell foam insulation can be used in a wide range of applications, including walls, roofs, and foundations, and can be applied in a variety of thicknesses to meet the specific insulation needs of different buildings and structures.
